Email-

Email (Electronic Mail) is a program that lets you send mail via the Internet.  Wikipedia defines email as "Electronic mail, commonly called email or e-mail, is a method of exchanging digital messages across the Internet or other computer networks."
One email provider I'm researching is Hotmail. Hotmail is a service provided by Microsoft Windows that allows you to read and send emails. Hotmail is a simple program to understand it is easy to sign up to and does not take very long. Once you are signed in you are open to a whole world of email. The messages you are sent are automatically sent to your inbox. Hotmail contains many different folders that lets you organise all your emails, you are also able to create your own personal folders. Like Google Mail Hotmail provides a service where you can flag specific messages that you want to read later this is then automatically sent to the flagged folder. Hotmail also has a new program that "gives you a virtual broom to sweep unwanted email out of your inbox." Hotmail allows you to send up to 10GB in attachments (Photos, videos etc) and lets you see updates and get contents from websites such as YouTube without leaving your inbox. Hotmail is also available on your phone which means you can access your emails and contacts from wherever you are. Hotmail also has a new feature which lets you view, edit and share Microsoft Office files using Hotmail. You can also connect to facebook and myspace keeping you connected with your friends and family. Also by adding birthdays to your contacts you can see when people you know birthdays are coming up. Hotmail also lets you sign in to Windows Live Messenger letting you communicate with everyone. All the features in Hotmail make your email organised and make everything easier for you.

Gmail Priority Inbox

The other email server i will be researching is Gmail. "Gmail is a free, advertising-supported webmail, POP3, and IMAP service provided by Google. In the United Kingdom and Germany, it is officially called Google Mail"....... Gmail Priority Inbox is a very useful feature that is new to Gmail. Priority Inbox finds the important messages and sorts the emails out for you. Making it simpler and easier to use in everyday life. The important messages are found and then brought to the top of your inbox. Another handy feature Gmail has is the star feature, if you wish to see messages after you've read them you can mark it with a star which puts messages into a special folder. This makes it easier to find the information and messages that you need. Gmail also has a feature that when it has learnt your reading patterns of email (which emails you prioritise) it can filter through your messages to automatically put a star on it when it arrives in your inbox. You are also able to manually say if the messages are more or less important so that Gmail can change the priorities. This feature improves over time as it learns how you use your emails and which emails you read first. By having this feature it makes using your email much more enjoyable as you do not have to keep scrolling down to find the messages you actually want to read. The information you want will be delivered to you faster and the unimportant messages will be sent to the bottom of your messages. This filtering is not available in many of the top email providers e.g hotmail. Gmail also has one of the top spam filters which leads to much less junk mail and viruses again making your email experience more enjoyable.
