BBC Bitesize

BBC Bitesize can be used from students in KS1  to GCSE
BBC bitesize is website designed for children to help them with their education. BBC bitesize caters for all children from KS1 to GCSE. It also includes sections the scottish and welsh education system. Each section of BBC bitesize contains many different subjects. The GCSE section contains twenty different subjects which it can help you with. Each subject is then broken down into different topics so you can find what you want. All of the mini lessons it teaches you contains a "Revise" section.
This is one game that you can do in GCSE bitesize
this game can be played to specialize in nine
different subject
This is where it actually tells you all about the subject and teaches you everything you need to know. Many of the lessons also contain Activities and Tests to test you on the things you've learnt. The sites also contain a selection of educational games which are fun but you also manage to learn a lot from these games at the same time. BBC bitesize is a very useful thing to use while learning and is especially good when revising. You will need to ask you're teacher what bit to do though because the sites cover many different examining boards so some of the work covered my be irrelevant to what you actually need to know. Some of the subjects also offer "audio bites" so instead of reading you can listen instead. This is a good feature as amny people can easily get bored and with a varied way of learning it can definitely prevent this. There is also a message board on the website which enables you to talk to other students and get ideas and help from them. You are also able to use BBC bitesize on your phone and try the many quizzes  that they have.

Online Education

There are many differnt ways that you can be educated over the internet. There are programs such as fronter which allow you to share and hand in work online, bbc bitesize which allows you to find out information on an array of subjects and also has a variety of eductaional games and quizzes to make learning fun. The programs im going to talk about are, Fronter, Mymaths and BBC bitesize
Fronter

Fronter is one of the Education programs i am studying. Fronter is like a little online organizer which helps you with your day to day learning. once logged in there are many different things you can do as long as your teachers have set it up for you. You can upload your work to the site making it easier incase you forget your usb pen. Also your teachers can open a set of "rooms". At my school there is a wide set of rooms, one for each subject. In some of the rooms teachers have uploaded a wide set of documents this is helpful as with all these resources on this website everything is all in one place and easy to find. Resources such as practice papers are often included aswell giving easy access to all the things you may need. You can also put lesson plans etc on to fronter making it easy for people to catch up on work if they have missed it. There also is a hand-in option on fronter which when enabled allows you to had in pieces of work electronically to the teacher and the teacher can then view this on their computer. This service is very useful as means you can easily hand in homework and you are not using up paper and ink by printing all your homework off. With this feature teachers are also able to mark the work they receive and give their comments as to what they think. Fronter is simple and easy and all of the features included make learning hassle free.

Mymaths

Mymaths Main Page

Mymaths is a really good service for online education. Mymaths as seen in the name is a website that focuses on maths. Once you are logged it it opens you to a world of maths resources. There are many different topics to choose from all KS3 work to Alevel. There are four main topics for KS3 work "Number" "algebra" "shape" and "data". And for A level work there are 6 main topics "Core 1" Core 2" "Decision 1" "decision 2"  "stats 1" and "mechanics 1". Each topic is then broken down easily into different bits to find exactly what you want. All of the small topics are like small lessons on an interactive powerpoint making you work out problems and helping you through. Each topic also has an online homework where you can sign in and do it and teachers can track your progress. There are also a wide selection of different games for each subject making learning fun for everyone, there are games for nearly every topic making learning all your maths skills fun. Another handy feature on mymaths is the My Portal zone. Here teachers can set you homework and leave details on what to do. They can also set you a date for when they want the homework done for. When you click on the results button all of the online homework's you have completed are shown. Also next to each homework you have done you are shown your percentage you achieved and a smiley face. You can receive a green face, an orange face or a red face telling you how well you did with a green face being the best and red being the worst. Mymaths can be used for everyday learning and for revision. These features make learning much more interactive, organised and fun.

Disadvantages
Many people may think that online learning is very impersonal and would prefer sitting in a classroom. There are also problems such as if you do not understand you do not have anyone to talk you through it or explain it for you.  Many things many not be as detailed online as you wish or simply may not have the information you want. Some people also find it much harder to learn off a computer as you can easily get distracted.
